Brooke was playing college softball and was killed (along with 3 other teammates) while traveling home from a game at SNU. In HS, she was an multi-sport athlete, playing volleyball, basketball and tennis in addition to softball, which was her greatest love. She graduated as a 2013 distinguished honor graduate of Blue Ridge HS and went on to study and play softball at North Central Texas College. Her killer was charged with 4 counts of 1st degree manslaughter.
