Madeleine was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island to Elphege and Rose Hebert. She grew up and attended boarding school in Quebec, Canada. After returning to Rhode Island, she had her first daughter, Jean Cloutier. On May 18, 1964, she married Gene Walker, and from this union, Suzy was born. In 1974, Madeleine, Gene, and Suzy moved to Edmond, OK from Henrietta, NY. Throughout her unique life, she worked as a dance teacher at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in New York, Cimarron Middle School as a lunch lady, and at Patti’s Hallmark. She was also a highly skilled seamstress and did professional draping, along with being a USO girl. Madeleine was very active in her community at the Quail Springs Baptist Church. She also prided herself as being “the fun grandma” to her two beloved granddaughters. When she wasn’t doting on them, she dedicated her time to raising animals, including dogs and bunnies. Madeleine was tragically killed by a drunk driver as her youngest daughter and son-in-law drove her home following Christmas festivities.
