Marcus was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 18, 1979. He was baptized on July 24, 1979, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Watonga. He attended Piedmont schools where his activities included band, wrestling, football, honor roll and student council member. He was also active in scouting, where he was a Pinewood Derby winner. Marcus was an amateur magician and rocketeer. As an outdoor enthusiast, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hiking. He loved all types of video games. With his love of computers and electronics, this may have been his future career.
