Marissa Renee Murrow was many things to many people. She was a daughter to Jeff and Kristy and a younger sister to her brother, Corbin. She adored her big brother and always tried to make him proud. They had many fun memories together growing up and a Christmas morning tradition that she loved because it was just between the two of them. She loved singing and was always sending new songs to her dad to learn on the guitar so he could play for her while she sang. She was her mom’s best friend and they spent a lot of time together enjoying their “girls only” date nights and traveling on their “girls trips”. Marissa grew up in Mustang and was a 2019 graduate and valedictorian of MHS. She participated in cheerleading, various student organizations, and was the wrestling team manager for three years. She quickly became known as the “team mom” because of how she took care of the team and they knew she was someone they could go to when they needed a friend. She often sang the National Anthem before the wrestling duals her senior year. She was a member of Chisholm Heights Baptist Church youth group and loved singing and leading worship with the praise band on Wednesday nights. She wanted her voice to glorify God and radiate His love during the services. As a sophomore at UCO (at the time of her death), she was a Special Education major and a Sigma Kappa sorority sister. She strived to brighten to lives of everyone who crossed her path. She loved others deeply and had the unique gift of making others feel seen, heard and know that they were precious to her. She loved being with her friends! She loved coffee runs, late night drives listening to music, shopping, traveling, and experiencing new things. She loved time spent at the lake wakeboarding and tubing. Marissa was kind, compassionate, and giving in all she did, further evidenced by her choice at 16 to be an organ donor. Little did she know that her decision would be needed just 3 short years later. She was driving home after a week of homecoming activities at college, just wanting to rest in her own bed for the weekend, when she was hit head-on by a drunk driver with 4 prior DUI convictions. Marissa’s friends had many things to say about her following her death and here are just a few: “Marissa was the kind of person who garnered all the attention in a room but was the last person to ever seek it.” “Marissa was the best of us all.” “If I had to describe Marissa in one word it would be Sunshine.” “She was my twin flame. We knew we had it good together and we never took our friendship for granted.” As you can see, Marissa was a collector of extraordinary people in her life. She is truly missed so very much by all who knew and loved her.
