Ryan Taylor Hamm was killed by a drunk driver who crossed the centerline and hit his car head-on while he was returning to college for his senior year at UCO after being home for the summer in Texas. Ryan lost his mother early in life due to an automobile accident. Ryan graduated from Klein High School in 2013 and attended Texas State University for one year before transferring to UCO to pursue a degree in Economics. Ryan was employed by the Edmond YMCA as a lifeguard and swimming instructor in the children’s program. He loved working with kids and had previously instructed children in swimming in the Spring/Klein area while in HS and college. Ryan would explain to his dad, that he would not tell the kids what they want to hear, but reward improvement when it was deserved. He was praised for his ability to connect with children gaining fast results. He was particularly fond of spending time and playing with his younger brothers. He enjoyed playing soccer, basketball, skiing, and swimming. He swam for his HS swim team and was involved in music as a bass player in orchestra.
